SAYEGH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to prohibiting the manufacture, sale, or offer for sale of a decorative or facsimile license plate that is substantially similar to a license plate issued by the department of motor vehicles The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 402-a of the vehicle and traffic 2 law, as added by chapter 224 of the laws of 1990, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 1. No person shall manufacture, sell, or offer for sale a decorative 5 or facsimile license plate of a size, shape, color and design which is 6 [identical with] substantially similar to the size, shape, color and 7 design of license plates issued by the department, such that such deco- 8 rative or facsimile license plate visually appears to be a license plate 9 issued by the department. 10 § 2.
