  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8959  IN ASSEMBLY January 30, 2024 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. DiPIETRO -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Boston Volunteer Firefighters David Hadley, Eugene Schmitt, Dana Stevens and Donald Pfarner Memorial Bridge" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-aaa 2 to read as follows: 3 § 342-aaa. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Boston Volunteer Firefighters David Hadley, Eugene Schmitt, Dana Stev- 5 ens and Donald Pfarner Memorial Bridge". The bridge on Rice Hill Road, 6 in the town of Boston, county of Erie, crossing over state route two 7 hundred nineteen, shall be designated and known as the "Boston Volunteer 8 Firefighters David Hadley, Eugene Schmitt, Dana Stevens and Donald Pfar- 9 ner Memorial Bridge". 10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 12 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 13 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 14 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 15 ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be 16 changed as a result of this act. 17 § 3.
