Senate Resolution No. 867 BY: Senator PALUMBO CONGRATULATING Brayden Fahrbach upon the occasion of capturing the 132-pound Division II wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on February 25, 2023 WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Brayden Fahrbach upon capturing the 132-pound Division II wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York; and WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family, friends and teammates, Brayden Fahrbach won the Division II state title at 132 pounds with a 6-4 victory over Aidan Gillings of Newfane, New York in the state final; and WHEREAS, In the annual New York State Wrestling tournament, Brayden Fahrbach placed third in 2020, second in 2022, and won the tournament this year; he was also the 2023 Eastern States Champion, where the best in the country compete; and WHEREAS, A standout wrestler for the Mount Sinai School District, Brayden Fahrbach has 156 career wins to date and ended his season with an undefeated overall record of 34-0; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as wrestling, which demands athletic prowess, speed and agility, Coach Matt Armstrong worked hard to hone the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; and WHEREAS, Brayden Fahrbach has clearly utilized dedication, determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Brayden Fahrbach upon the occasion of capturing the 132-pound Division II wrestling title at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships on February 25, 2023; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Brayden Fahrbach and Coach Matt Armstrong.
