 Senate Resolution No. 1478 BY: Senator GRIFFO HONORING Richard Woodland upon the occasion of his retirement as Fourth Ward Councilor after 25 years of distinguished service to the Town of New Hartford, New York WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stature of the State of New York; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Richard Woodland upon the occasion of his retirement as Fourth Ward Councilor after 25 years of distinguished service; and WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Richard Woodland rendered faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the Fourth Ward, which includes parts of New Hartford's commercial district, like Sangertown Square, the Seneca Turnpike and part of Commercial Drive, along with the residential properties that surround them; and WHEREAS, In his capacity as a member of the Town Council of New Hartford, Richard Woodland always served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and WHEREAS, First elected in 1998 in a special election, and officially taking office in 1999, Richard Woodland went on to win reelection for six consecutive terms, serving diligently for over two decades; and WHEREAS, Richard Woodland was proudly part of the consolidation of all of the Town of New Hartford's offices and its services to the new municipal office building in the Orchard at 8635 Clinton Street; he is also proud of the evolution and development of the commercial sector in the town that took place during his service; and WHEREAS, Through his experience on the Town Council, Richard Woodland has gained a strong knowledge of local issues and has established a good working relationship with our state and federal leaders; and WHEREAS, In his official acts, Richard Woodland was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and WHEREAS, During his tenure as Fourth Ward Councilor, Richard Woodland earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor Richard Woodland upon the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of distinguished public service; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Richard Woodland.
