 Senate Resolution No. 2032 BY: Senator STEC CONGRATULATING Hudson Montgomery upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Giant Slalom, Slalom, and Alpine Combined Championships on February 26 and 27, 2024 WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State; and WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Hudson Montgomery upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Giant Slalom, Slalom, and Alpine Combined Championships, held from Monday, February 26 to Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, New York; and WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of his excited fans, Hudson Montgomery claimed a state title for the Queensbury Boy's Alpine Ski Team and became the third Spartan male in the school's program history to earn first place finishes in the giant slalom, slalom, and combined categories; and WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically supported Hudson Montgomery throughout his journey as his season ended with impressive finishes in all the races he participated in; only a freshman, he achieved a total time of 1:37.35 in the slalom championship; and WHEREAS, In a sport such as skiing, which demands athletic prowess, speed, and agility, Head Coach Katherine Vaughn and Assistant Coach Lynn Potter have worked hard to hone the skills of this championship skier, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both on and off the slopes; and WHEREAS, Head Coach Katherine Vaughn, Assistant Coach Lynn Potter and champion athlete Hudson Montgomery have clearly utilized dedication, determination, and resilience in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Hudson Montgomery upon the occasion of capturing the NYSPHSAA Giant Slalom, Slalom, and Alpine Combined Championships on February 26 and 27, 2024; and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Hudson Montgomery, Head Coach Katherine Vaughn and Assistant Coach Lynn Potter.
