BRISPORT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to excluding certain runaway youths from being able to consent to certain medical, dental, health and hospital services The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 2504 of the public health law, as 2 added by a chapter of the laws of 2022 amending the public health law 3 relating to enabling certain persons to consent for certain medical, 4 dental, health and hospital services, as proposed in legislative bills 5 numbers S. 8937 and A. 9604, is amended to read as follows: 6 1. Any person who is eighteen years of age or older, or is the parent 7 of a child or has married, or is a [runaway or] homeless youth as 8 defined in section five hundred thirty-two-a of the executive law, or 9 receives services at an approved runaway and homeless youth crisis 10 services program or a transitional independent living support program as 11 defined in section five hundred thirty-two-a of the executive law, may 12 give effective consent for medical, dental, health and hospital services 13 for themself, and the consent of no other person shall be necessary. 14 § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same 15 manner as a chapter of the laws of 2022 amending the public health law 16 relating to enabling certain persons to consent for certain medical, 17 dental, health and hospital services, as proposed in legislative bills 18 numbers S. 8937 and A. 9604, takes effect.
