PARKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to creating a cost of living adjustment to be applied to the salaries of members of the legislature The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 5-a of the legislative law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 3 4. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this section, as of the 4 first Wednesday in January of the year two thousand twenty-four and 5 every second year thereafter, such base allowance shall be increased or 6 decreased at the same rate as increases or decreases in the median 7 household income for the state for the preceding two year period, as 8 ascertained by the governor. 9 § 2.
