ROLISON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first report, amended on first report, ordered to a second report and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of second report AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Zone Sergeant James G. Sweeney New York State Police Memorial Bridge" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-o to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-o. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Zone Sergeant James G. Sweeney New York State Police Memorial Bridge". 5 All that portion of the state highway system constituting the eastbound 6 and westbound bridges on interstate eighty-four East and West at the 7 junction of Lime Kiln Road Exits, in the town of East Fishkill, county 8 of Dutchess, crossing interstate route eighty-four shall be designated 9 and known as the "Zone Sergeant James G. Sweeney New York State Police 10 Memorial Bridge". 11 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 12 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 13 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 14 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 15 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 16 ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be 17 changed as a result of this act. 18 § 3.
