  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 8135  IN SENATE January 9, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT establishing the "New York municipal asset forfeiture account- ability act" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as 2 the "New York municipal asset forfeiture accountability act". 3 § 2. Notwithstanding any other section of law, the funds resulting 4 from any assets lawfully seized by any county sheriff, or any other 5 municipal police agency, that are forfeited from the original owner, 6 shall be dedicated to such municipalities' general fund. 7 § 3.
