TEDISCO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to authorize the commissioner of the department of civil service to reinstate Jarrod Iler on the eligible civil service list for employment as a police officer in the city of Saratoga Springs The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding the provision of section 58 of the civil 2 service law or any other provision of law to the contrary, Jarrod Iler, 3 who was eligible to sit for the civil service exam for police officers 4 on November 19, 2011, and was eligible for employment as a police offi- 5 cer for the city of Troy, New York, at that time, and who took and 6 passed said exam on November 19, 2011, and whose name appeared on the 7 next civil service eligible list, and who served as a police officer in 8 the city of Troy, New York from 2013 to 2020, and who is now thirty-six 9 years of age and no longer deemed eligible for employment as a police 10 officer due to the 35-year maximum age limit for police officers pursu- 11 ant to section 58 of the civil service law, shall be exempt from said 12 thirty-five year old maximum age limit and shall be eligible for employ- 13 ment as a police officer in the city of Saratoga Springs, New York. 14 Jarrod Iler shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness 15 provisions of the civil service laws applicable to full-time police 16 officers. 17 § 2. The commissioner of the department of civil service shall rein- 18 state Jarrod Iler on the eligible civil service list, without lost rank 19 or seniority, provided Mr. Iler files a request to that effect with the 20 state comptroller by January 1, 2025. Any such reinstatement shall be 21 effective immediately. 22 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
