  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9560  IN SENATE May 16, 2024 ___________ Introduced by Sen. COONEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Insurance AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to an exemption for the city of New York from certain insurance requirements in connection with public construction contracts The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subparagraph (B) of paragraph 2 of subsection (a) of 2 section 2504 of the insurance law, as amended by chapter 602 of the laws 3 of 2023, is amended to read as follows: 4 (B) the city of New York, a public corporation or public authority, in 5 connection with the construction of electrical generating and trans- 6 mission facilities or construction, reconstruction, extensions [and] or 7 additions of light rail or heavy rail rapid transit [and], commuter 8 railroads, or, bus facilities, bridges, tunnels, central business 9 district tolling facilities, and facilities related to or ancillary to 10 any of the foregoing. For the purposes of this section, light rail or 11 heavy rail rapid transit, commuter railroads, bus facilities, bridges, 12 tunnels, central business district tolling facilities, and facilities 13 related to or ancillary to any of the foregoing refer to projects deliv- 14 ered by the metropolitan transportation authority and its subsidiaries 15 and affiliates that are defined as "transportation facilities" in subdi- 16 vision seventeen of section twelve hundred sixty-one of the public 17 authorities law, or "project" as defined in subdivision six of section 18 five hundred fifty-one of the public authorities law. 19 § 2.
