RAJKUMAR -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT directing the metropolitan transportation authority to study the feasibility of developing and operating an autonomous rail rapid tran- sit (ART) network in the city of New York The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The metropolitan transportation authority shall conduct a 2 feasibility study on developing and operating an autonomous rail rapid 3 transit (ART) network in the city of New York. Such study shall focus on 4 adding mass transit options to neighborhoods with limited or no subway 5 or rail service. Such study shall also include potential routes, infras- 6 tructure needs, fare collection, and availability of technology for 7 procurement. 8 § 2. Within one year of the effective date of this act, the chair of 9 the metropolitan transportation authority shall submit a written report 10 to the governor, temporary president of the senate, speaker of the 11 assembly and mayor of the city of New York, with the findings and recom- 12 mendations of the study conducted pursuant to this act. 13 § 3.
