CUNNINGHAM -- read once and referred to the Committee on Agriculture AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to requir- ing the department of agriculture and markets to develop and maintain a database on the impact of climate change on agriculture The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 16 of the agriculture and markets law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 53 to read as follows: 3 53. Develop and maintain a searchable, publicly available database of 4 agricultural data received annually from farmers in the state. Begin- 5 ning January first, two thousand twenty-seven, and annually thereafter, 6 farmers in the state shall report to the department on the impact of 7 climate change on agriculture, including but not limited to crops grown, 8 outcomes and yield. The department shall conduct outreach efforts to 9 farmers in the state to develop the database and to inform farmers of 10 the requirements of this subdivision. 11 § 2.
