SOLAGES -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the performance of medical services by physician assistants; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 6542 of the education law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 3 2-a. Notwithstanding subdivision one or two of this section, a physi- 4 cian assistant licensed under this article may perform medical services 5 without the supervision of a physician as appropriate to the physician 6 assistant's scope of practice, education and training where such physi- 7 cian assistant has practiced for more than three thousand six hundred 8 hours. 9 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall 10 have become a law and shall expire and be deemed repealed two years 11 after such date.
