DAIS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to establishing the New York state federal relations office; and making an appropriation therefor The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new article 43 to 2 read as follows: 3 ARTICLE 43 4 NEW YORK STATE FEDERAL RELATIONS OFFICE 5 Section 930. New York state federal relations office. 6 § 930. New York state federal relations office. 1. There is hereby 7 established within the executive department a New York state federal 8 relations office to be located in the district of Columbia. 9 2. Such office shall: 10 (a) facilitate more effective coordination and foster bipartisan 11 collaboration between New York state elected officials at the state and 12 federal levels; 13 (b) advocate for federal resources; 14 (c) identify and support key initiatives and critical issues impacting 15 New York state residents; and 16 (d) enhance New York state's influence in the federal policy-making 17 process. 18 3. The governor may appoint such employees as may be necessary for the 19 New York state federal relations office to implement the provisions of 20 this section, and may prescribe the duties and fix the compensation of 21 such employees within the amounts appropriated therefor. 22 § 2. The sum of three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000), or so much 23 thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated to the executive 24 department out of any moneys in the state treasury in the general fund EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted. LBD09360-01-5A. 6991 2 1 to the credit of the New York state federal relations office not other- 2 wise appropriated, and made immediately available, for the purpose of 3 carrying out the provisions of this act. Such moneys shall be payable on 4 the audit and warrant of the comptroller on vouchers certified or 5 approved by the governor in the manner prescribed by law. 6 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
