BOLOGNA -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Major Andrew D. Byers Memorial High- way" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 345-d to 2 read as follows: 3 § 345-d. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Major Andrew D. Byers Memorial Highway". All that portion of the state 5 highway system constituting state route three hundred twenty-four begin- 6 ning at the intersection of state route three hundred twenty-four and 7 Transit Road, continuing in a generally easterly direction, and termi- 8 nating at the intersection of state route three hundred twenty-four and 9 Main Street in the town of Clarence, county of Erie, shall be designated 10 and known as the "Major Andrew D. Byers Memorial Highway". 11 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 12 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 13 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 14 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 15 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 16 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 17 changed as a result of this act. 18 § 3.
