As Adopted by the Senate 136th General Assembly Regular Session S. R. No. 101 2025-2026 Senator Gavarone A R E S O L U T I O N Honoring the Wood County District Public Library on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary. WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to applaud the Wood County District Public Library on the auspicious occasion of its Sesquicentennial; and WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to the Wood County District Public Library, for throughout its history, this fine institution has attained a remarkable record of service to the area. Established as the Bowling Green Library Association in 1875 with seventy-five supporters, the organization was ever-changing and dependent on subscriptions before closing in 1888, and in 1914, the women of the Shakespeare Round Table opened the first location of the Bowling Green Library. Since then, it has grown into the flourishing system that has become a pillar of its community, and it is truly deserving of high praise; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Wood County District Public Library has fostered education, culture, and individual growth by providing a variety of innovative and beneficial programs and services. As a focal point for many civic activities and a valuable instrument for community improvement, the library system has earned the respect and appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example of excellence that is worthy of emulation; and WHEREAS, Public libraries play an important role in today’s society, serving as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and ideas. They offer a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and intellectual development for all individuals, and as repositories for the best of our nation’s intellectual endeavors, they are vital to the preservation of our country’s heritage, principles, and ideals. No. 101 Page 2 As Adopted by the Senate proud to note that it is through the efforts of institutions such as the Wood County District Public Library that our state has maintained its reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to live and work; therefore be it RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Wood County District Public Library on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Wood County District Public Library. 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37
