1443 An Act relating to Council on Law Enforcement

3056 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY Section 1, Chapter 168, O.S.L.
3157 2018 (70 O.S. Supp. 2020, Section 3311.16), is amended to read as

4192 2. CLEET may establish and certify additional law enforcement
4293 and criminal justice programs at state -supported technology center
43-schools in the State of Oklahoma operating under the State Board of
44-Career and Technology Education for teaching students between
45-sixteen (16) and nineteen (19) years of age. The tuition or fees
46-for law enforcement and criminal justice -related programs shall be ENR. H. B. NO. 1026 Page 2
47-similar in cost as other vocational and technical education courses
48-and subjects offered at technology center schools and shall be
49-determined by the State Board of Career and Technology Education.

51101 B. The tuition and/or or fees for attending the Basic Peace
52102 Officer Certification Academies and/or or other law enforcement
53103 related training will be at a rate established by CLEET and approved
54104 by the Council. Tuition and/or or fees charged under this section
55105 will shall be deposited in the Peace Officer Revolving Fund
56106 established in Section 3311.7 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statues

59108 C. Individuals not commissioned or appointed by a l aw
60109 enforcement agency who are trained in the Basic Peace Officer
61110 Certification Academies will shall be required to meet minimum
62111 requirements established for peace officers as set forth in Section
63112 3311 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes this title. Any fees
64113 relating to meeting these requirements shall be the responsibility
65114 of the individual. Individuals applying for the Academies will

66142 shall be required to submit a fingerprint check to CLEET prior to
67143 acceptance.

69144 D. The Council is authorized to promulgate emergency rules to
70145 effectuate the provisions of this subsection section.

72146 E. Upon successful completion of the Basic Peace Officer
73147 Certification Academy, the individual's CLEET certification will of
74148 the individual shall become effective upon employment by an Oklahoma
75149 law enforcement agency. Employment and certification must be
76150 obtained within two (2) years of completion of the Basic Peace
77151 Officer Certification Academy.
