27 | 54 | SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 20 O.S. 2011, Section 1503, is | |
28 | 55 | amended to read as follows: | |

30 | 56 | Section 1503. A. Every applicant who seeks to be examined for | |
31 | 57 | enrollment as a certified shorthand reporter shall prove to the | |
32 | 58 | satisfaction of the State Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand | |

35 | 60 | 1. Is of legal age; | |

37 | 61 | 2. Meets the requisite st andards of ethical fitness; and | |

52 | 100 | methods of shorthand reporting consists of two parts, designated | |
53 | 101 | Part 1 and Part 2 as follows: | |

55 | 102 | 1. Part 1 consists of the test as authorized by the Supreme | |
56 | 103 | Court consisting of the following requirements: demonstrated | |
57 | 104 | proficiency in reporting testimony and proceedings at a spee d of not | |
58 | 105 | more than two hundred (200) words per minute in taking a question - | |
59 | 106 | and-answer type dictation and at a speed of not more than one | |
60 | 107 | hundred eighty (180) words per minute in taking literary materials | |
61 | 108 | which shall be designed to test the ability of an ap plicant to | |
62 | 109 | accurately prepare a transcript of testimony and proceedings that is | |
63 | 110 | reasonably free from spelling errors. The Board may not increase or | |
64 | 111 | decrease such minimum speed requirement, by rule or othe rwise; and | |

66 | 112 | 2. Part 2 is the Oklahoma Written Knowl edge test which consists | |
67 | 113 | of not less than twenty -five multiple choice questions relating to | |
68 | 114 | Oklahoma law and court rules, duties of certified shorthand | |
69 | 115 | reporters, and general court procedure. The examinat ion shall be | |

77 | 149 | authorized examination is disqualified and may not take the | |
78 | 150 | examination again until two (2) years have elapsed from t he date of | |
79 | 151 | the examination at which the applicant w as disqualified. | |

81 | 152 | D. A certification issued under this section must be for one or | |
82 | 153 | more of the following methods of shorthand reporting: | |

84 | 154 | 1. Written shorthand; | |

86 | 155 | 2. Machine shorthand; or | |

88 | 156 | 3. Any other method of shorthand reporting authorized by the | |
