3268 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

3469 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
3570 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11 -103.9b of Title 70, unless
3671 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

3898 A. This section shall be known and may be cited as “Maria’s
3999 Law”.

41100 B. Beginning with the 20 22-2023 school year, the State Board of
42101 Education shall require that all schools, as part of any health
43102 education curriculum, include instruction in mental health, with an
44103 emphasis on the interrelation of physical and mental well -being.

46104 C. In consultation with the Department of Mental Health and
47105 Substance Abuse Services, the Board shall revise the Oklahoma
48106 Academic Standards for Health and Physical Education to include a
49107 focus on mental health and develop a list of age -appropriate
50108 resources for students in grades kindergarten through twelve. The
51109 standards and resources shall be available on the website of the
52110 State Department of Education.

54111 D. School districts may enter into agreements with nonprofit
55112 entities and other community partners to assist with or to provide
56113 mental health education to students pursuant to this section if the
57114 nonprofits and community partners are approved by the State
58115 Department of Education and the Department of Mental Health and
59116 Substance Abuse Services.

61117 E. The Board shall promulg ate rules to implement the provisions
62118 of this section.
