41	41	Oklahoma Veteran Educational Assistance Act; waiving

43	43	institutions; establishing eligibility criteria for
44	44	waiver; requiring proof of service ; providing for
45	45	codification; providing an effective date; and

52	52	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
53	53	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
54	54	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3251 of Title 70, unless there
55	55	is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
56	56	A. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Oklahoma
57	57	Veteran Educational Assistance Act ".
58	58	B. Subject to the provisions of this section, the enrollment
59	59	fees charged to any veteran of the uniformed military services of
60	60	the United States or Oklahoma National Guard who enrolls at a
61	61	community college or two-year college in The Oklahoma State System
62	62	of Higher Education or the tuition charged to any veteran who

89	89	enrolls in a public postsecondary technology center school or
90	90	college shall be waived.
91	91	C. The educational benefits provided in this act shall:
92	92	1. Be available for veterans who have previously completed
93	93	basic military training, military occupational specialty training or
94	94	skill-level training;
95	95	2. Be available for a period of ten (10) years from the date of
96	96	initial membership; and
97	97	3. Not be available to veterans who have completed a
98	98	baccalaureate degree.
99	99	D. Any veteran who receives a waiver of enrollment fees or
100	100	tuition pursuant to the Oklahoma Veteran Educational Assistance Act
101	101	shall provide proof of service for a duration of at least four (4)
102	102	years by submitting a signed DD Form 214 Report of Separation from
103	103	the United States Department of Defense . It shall be the
104	104	responsibility of the veteran to obtain a certificate from the
105	105	commanding officer attesting to the satisfactory military
106	106	performance of the veteran and to present the certificate to the
107	107	educational institution in order to obtain a n enrollment fee or
108	108	tuition waiver.
109	109	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2021.
110	110	SECTION 3. It being immediately n ecessary for the preservation
111	111	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
