An Act relating to school libraries; directing
library media program to be reflective of community
standards when acquiring materials , resources, and
equipment; providing for codification; and providing
an effective date.
SUBJECT: School libraries
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 11-201 of Title 70, unless there
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
As school library media center resources are finite, the library
media program shall be reflective of the community standards for the
population the librar y media center serves when acquiring an age-
appropriate collection of print materials, non print materials,
multimedia resources, equipment, and supplies adequate in quality
and quantity to meet the needs of students in all areas of th e
school library media program.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
