HOUSE BILL 3234 By: Crosswhite Hader
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to elections; requiring certain
percentage of vote for certain elections to be valid;
providing for codificatio n; providing exceptions; and
providing an effective date.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 7-139 of Title 26, unless there
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follow s:
Except for elections held co ncurrently with the dates provided
in Sections 1-101, 1-102, 1-103, 20-101, and 13A-103 of Title 26,
and Section 16-103 of Title 11, any election held by any county,
school district, techn ology center school district, municip ality,
fire protection district, or other political subdivision authorized
to call elections shall not be valid unless forty percent (40%) of
active registered voters eligible to vote in t he election, as of
thirty (30) days prior to the date of the election, vote at the
election.

SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
