BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 528.9 of Title 57, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: A. The Department of Corrections shall provide minimum correctional officer staffing sufficient to ensure continuous appropriate supervision of inmates at all facilities of the Department according to the profile of each individual facility . When establishing the correctional officer-to-inmate ratio, the Department shall consider the follo wing: 1. Level of security at each facility; 2. Perimeter or physical security of each facility; 5. The ability to effectively classify and separate categories of inmates at each facility; and 6. Any other considerations that would require additional correctional officer staffing at each facility. B. Beginning November 1, 2022, the Department shall be required to have a minimum ratio of one (1) correctional officer for every five (5) inmates for each facility. C. The Department shall publish on the homepage of its Internet website a report listing each ratio of correctional officers to inmates for every facility of the Department. SECTION 2.
