5252 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5353 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 47 O.S. 2021, Section 1-103, is
5454 amended to read as fol lows:
5555 Section 1-103. Authorized emergency vehicles - Equipment.
5656 A. When equipped as prescribed in subsection B of this se ction:
5757 1. Vehicles of fire departments including privately owned
5858 vehicles driven by volunteer firefighters, provided the audible
5959 sirens and flashing lights equipped on such privately owned vehicles
6060 are used only while responding to, but n ot upon returning from, a
6161 fire or other emergency. A volunteer firefighter displaying
6262 emergency lights on a privately owned motor vehicle shall carry in
6363 the vehicle an identification c ard showing the name of the owner of

9090 the vehicle and the organization to which the fire fighter or
9191 volunteer firefighter belongs. In addition, the said identification
9292 card shall bear the signature of the person authorizin g the
9393 emergency use of the light s;
9494 2. Ambulances or vehicles specified pursuant to subs ection B of
9595 Section 1-2512 of Title 63 of the Ok lahoma Statutes of licensed
9696 ambulance service providers;
9797 3. State vehicles of l aw enforcement agencies;
9898 4. County vehicles of sheriffs and full -time commissioned
9999 deputies and vehicles designated by the sher iff for support of the
100100 sheriff’s office includin g privately owned vehicles driven by the
101101 sheriff and full-time, part-time and reserve commissioned deput ies;
102102 provided the audible sirens and flashing red lights equipped on such
103103 privately owned vehicles are u sed only in a law enforcement capacity
104104 and in the course of duty;
105105 5. Municipal vehicles of police departments;
106106 6. Vehicles owned and operated by the U nited States Marshals
107107 Service or the Federal Bureau of Investigation;
108108 7. Vehicles of Oklahoma National Guard units designated by the
109109 Adjutant General for support to civil authorities; or
110110 8. Vehicles owned and operated by any local organization for
111111 emergency management as defined by Section 683.3 of Title 63 of the
112112 Oklahoma Statutes,
113113 are authorized emergenc y vehicles.

140140 B. All vehicles prescribed in subs ection A of this section
141141 shall be equipped with sirens capable of giving audible signals as
142142 required by the provisions of Section 12-218 of this title and
143143 flashing red lights as authorized by the provisions of Section 12-
144144 218 of this title.
145145 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
