5055 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5156 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 11 O.S. 2021, Section 36-101A, is
5257 amended to read as follows :
5358 Section 36-101A. A. Cities and towns are hereby authorized to
5459 construct and provide parking spaces, curb c uts, ramps and signage
5560 for physically disabled parking and access for use in conjunc tion
5661 with facilities, both publ ic and private, open to the general
5762 public. The city or town may bear the cost of such construction, or
5863 at the option of the city or town an d the owner of such facilities,
5964 share the cost of such construction with the owner o f such
6065 facilities.

93+B. Beginning January 1, 2010, the The posted signage for every

9197 the latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices

94100 by eighteen (18) inches or larger and must use a design of the
95101 modernized International Symbol for Accessibil ity, which shall
96102 depict a figure leaning f orward in a wheelchair , which includes the
97103 words "RESERVED PARKING" and the blue and white international symbol
98104 of access. Van-accessible physically disabled reser ved parking
99-spaces shall also display sign R7-8a immediately below sign R7-8, as

138145 C. The blue and white international symbol of access,
139146 accompanied by appropriate language including, bu t not limited to,
140147 "Handicapped Parking", "Reserved for Handicapped" and "Permit
141148 Required-Towing Enforced" may be used in lieu of sig n R7-8 if the
142149 sign was erected prior to January 1, 2010 January 1, 2023.
143150 D. Nothing in this section shall be construed as t o necessitate
144151 replacement of existing sign age or inventory prior to ordin ary
145152 maintenance procedures and rotations.
146153 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
