40	40	An Act relating to schools; amending 70 O.S. 2021,
41	41	Section 6-192, which relates to professional
42	42	development of teachers; requiring program to include
43	43	information on significant state and federal
44	44	education laws and regulations; au thorizing State
45	45	Board of Education to promulgate rules; and providing

52	52	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
53	53	SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S . 2021, Section 6-192, is
54	54	amended to read as follows:
55	55	Section 6-192. A. It is hereby declared to be the intent of
56	56	the Legislature to establish a professional development procedur e
57	57	whereby all teachers in the s tate continue their education beyond
58	58	initial certification by the state to ensure that the children of
59	59	the state are taught by professional educators, fully prepared in
60	60	their areas of expert ise. Furthermore, such professiona l
61	61	development procedure shall p rovide alternative means of education,
62	62	including one or more of the following: In -service programs, higher

90	90	to help teachers enrich their professional abilit ies.
91	91	B. The professional devel opment procedure shall include digital
92	92	teaching and learning standards to enhance content delivery to
93	93	students and improve student achievement. A local district board of
94	94	education shall require a program for teachers which s hall emphasize
95	95	the importance of digital teaching and learning standards .
96	96	Beginning with the 2022 -2023 school year, the program shall include
97	97	information for teachers on significant state and federal education
98	98	laws and regulations. The program shall be completed the first year
99	99	a certified teacher is employed by a school district, and then at a
100	100	frequency as determined by the local board.
101	101	C. The State Board of Education may promulgate rules to
102	102	implement the provisions of this section.
103	103	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
