4040 An Act relating to schools; amending 70 O.S. 2021,

5252 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5353 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S . 2021, Section 6-192, is
5454 amended to read as follows:
5555 Section 6-192. A. It is hereby declared to be the intent of
5656 the Legislature to establish a professional development procedur e
5757 whereby all teachers in the s tate continue their education beyond
5858 initial certification by the state to ensure that the children of
5959 the state are taught by professional educators, fully prepared in
6060 their areas of expert ise. Furthermore, such professiona l
6161 development procedure shall p rovide alternative means of education,
6262 including one or more of the following: In -service programs, higher

9090 to help teachers enrich their professional abilit ies.
9191 B. The professional devel opment procedure shall include digital
9292 teaching and learning standards to enhance content delivery to
9393 students and improve student achievement. A local district board of
9494 education shall require a program for teachers which s hall emphasize
9595 the importance of digital teaching and learning standards .
9696 Beginning with the 2022 -2023 school year, the program shall include
9797 information for teachers on significant state and federal education
9898 laws and regulations. The program shall be completed the first year
9999 a certified teacher is employed by a school district, and then at a
100100 frequency as determined by the local board.
101101 C. The State Board of Education may promulgate rules to
102102 implement the provisions of this section.
103103 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
