SENATE BILL 1222 By: Young
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to the Oklahoma Department of
Commerce; making an appropriation; statin g purpose;
providing an effective date; and declar ing an
emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated to the Oklahoma
Department of Commerce from any monies not otherwise appropriated
from the General Revenue Fund o f the State Treasury for the fiscal
year ending June 30, 2 023, the sum of Thirteen Million Seven Hundred
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($13,750,000.00) or so much thereof as may be
necessary for the purpose of encouraging entrepreneurship in urban,
underserved communities. Funds will be used for developing plans
and for other pre-construction costs that support commercial
property development to be leased to local and minority owned
businesses that address the lack of retail offerings that the
community needs.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 202 2.
SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation

of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take ef fect and
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
