7777 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7878 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7979 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 250.8 of Title 74, unless there
8080 is created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows:
8181 A. No state employee shall be annually compensated more t han
8282 the Governor of the State of Oklahoma pursuant to the salary
8383 established in Secti on 250.4 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
8484 B. Except as provided in subsection C of this section and for
8585 the purposes of this section, “state employee” means and includes
8686 each officer or employee elected or employed in the service of this
8787 state.

139139 C. The following state employees shall be exempt from the
140140 requirements in subsection A of this section:
141141 1. Officers and members of the Oklahoma State Regents for
142142 Higher Education and state employees of institutions under the
143143 administrative authority of the Okl ahoma State Regents for Higher
144144 Education; and
145145 2. Physicians and other licensed health care professionals
146146 under the administrative authority of any state department or
147147 agency.
148148 D. State employee compensation greater than the Governor’s may
149149 be submitted to the Legislature by the director of the respective
150150 state department, agency , or political subdivision. The Legislature
151151 may approve submitted compensation by the proper pa ssage of a joint
152152 or concurrent resolution.
153153 SECTION 2. This act shall be come effective July 1, 2022.
154154 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
155155 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is here by
156156 declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
157157 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
