An Act relating to soldiers and sailors; requiring 
the Department of Veterans Affairs to evaluate the 
Union Soldiers Home; requiring dete rmination of 
measures and funds necessary to meet United States 
Department of Veterans Affairs standards; requiring 
submission of findings to the President Pro Tempore 
of the Senate and Speaker of the Hou se; authorizing 
the Department to seek assistance fr om the Adjutant 
General and state agencies; providing for 
codification; providing an effective date; and 
declaring an emergency. 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE O F THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.    NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 118 of Title 44, unless there is 
created a duplicatio n in numbering, reads as follows: 
A.  The Oklahoma Department of Veteran s Affairs shall evaluate 
the condition of the land and property known as the Union Soldiers 
Home and determine the measures and the amount of funds necessary to 
meet all standards required by the United States Department of 
Veterans Affairs including those required to designate the property 
as a State Veterans Cemetery.  The Department shall submit a report

to the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the 
House of Representatives by November 1, 202 1. 
B.  The Department is authorized to seek assistance from the 
Adjutant General and any state agency as necessary to f ulfill the 
requirements of this section. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 202 1. 
SECTION 3.  It being immediately necessary for th e preservation 
of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby 
declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and 
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
