1747 An Act relating to schools; requiring each public

3563 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE ST ATE OF OKLAHOMA:

3764 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
3865 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1210.508 -5 of Title 70, unless
3966 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

4167 A. Beginning in the 2021 -2022 school year, each public school
4268 district and public charter school shall provide students in grades
4369 ten through twelve an opportunity to take the Armed Services

4497 Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test and consult with a military

4999 B. The ASVAB test shall be scheduled during normal school day
50100 hours at a time that limits conflicts with extracurricular
51101 activities.

53102 C. Each public school district and public charter school shall
54103 provide each student in grades ten through twelve and his or her
55104 parent or legal guardian with the date, time and location of the
56105 scheduled administration of the ASVAB test.

58106 D. A public school district and public charter school may elect
59107 not to provide the ASVAB test if the district or charter school
60108 provides an alternative t est that:

62109 1. Assesses a student ’s aptitude for success in a career field
63110 other than a career field that requires postsecondary education;

65111 2. Is free to administer;
66-
67112 3. Requires minimal training and support of district or charter
68113 school faculty and staff to administer the test; and
69-
70114 4. Provides the student with a professional interpretation of
71115 the test results that allows the student to explore occupations that
72116 are consistent with his or her interests and skills and to develop
73117 strategies to attain career g oals.

75118 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2021.

77119 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
78120 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
