7979 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SEN ATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8080 2ND SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
8181 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
8282 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
8383 the following proposed amendments to Section 1 of Article I and
8484 Section 1 of Article II of the Oklahoma Cons titution to read as
8585 follows:
8686 Section 1. The State of Oklahoma is an inseparable a free and
8787 independent sovereign state and by choice a part of the Federal
8888 Union known as the United States of America, and recognizes that the
8989 Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land.

141141 The maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the
142142 Federal Union depend upon the preservation of the right of local
143143 self-government, unimpaired to all the states.
144144 Section 1. All political power is inherent in the people; and
145145 government is all free governments are founded on their authority
146146 and instituted for their protection, security, and benefit, and to
147147 promote their general welfare; the faith of the people of Oklaho ma
148148 stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of
149149 government and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all
150150 times the inalienable right to abolish, alter or reform the same
151151 whenever the public good may require it: Provided, such change be
152152 not repugnant to the Constitution of the United States.

154154 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in

159159 This measure amends Section 1 of Article 1 and Section 1 of
160160 Article 2 of the Oklahoma Constitution. The measure amends

162162 and independent sovereign state and a part of the Federal Union
