7575 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF R EPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7676 1ST SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
7777 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
7878 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
7979 the following proposed amendment to Sect ion 1 of Article XXIV of the
8080 Oklahoma Constitution to read as follows:
8181 Section 1. Any amendment or amendments to this Constitution may
8282 be proposed in either branch of the Legislature, and if the same
8383 shall be agreed to by a major ity of all the members elected to ea ch
8484 of the two (2) houses, such proposed amendment or amendments shall,
8585 with the yeas and nays thereon, be entered in their journals and
8686 referred by the Secretary of State to the people for their approval
8787 or rejection, at the next regular general election, except when the

139139 Legislature, by a two -thirds (2/3) vote of each house, shall order a
140140 special election for that purpose. If a majority not less than
141141 sixty percent (60%) of all the electors voting on any proposed
142142 amendment at such election shall vote in favor thereof, it shall
143143 thereby become a part of this Constitution.
144144 No proposal for the amendment or alteration of this Constitution
145145 which is submitted to the voters shall embrace more than one general
146146 subject and the voter s shall vote separately for or against each
147147 proposal submitted; provided, however, that in the submission of
148148 proposals for the amendment of this Constitution by articles, which
149149 embrace one general subject, each proposed article shall be deemed a
150150 single proposal or proposition.
151151 SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional
152152 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in
153153 the following form:

156156 THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
157157 This measure would amend Section 1 of Article 24 of the Oklahoma
158158 Constitution. It would increase the vote required to pass a
159159 constitutional amendment proposed by the Legislature from a
160160 simple majority to a 60% vote of the electors voting on the
161161 amendment.
