5050 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5151 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 567.12, is
5252 amended to read as follows :
5353 Section 567.12 A. To qualify in this state as an approved
5454 program for registered nurses, the program shall be conducted in the
5555 State of Oklahoma in an accredited college or university leading to
5656 an associate, baccalaureate, or higher degree in nursing. Such
5757 programs shall meet the standards fixed by the Oklahoma Board of
5858 Nursing and prescribed i n its rules.
5959 B. To qualify in the State of Oklahoma as an approved diploma
6060 program for registered nurses, or an LPN to Diploma RN ladder
6161 program for registered nurses, the program shall be conducted in the
6262 State of Oklahoma in a technology center approved by the Oklahoma

8989 Department of Career and Technology Education , a nationally
9090 accredited college, or an accredited college or university and shall
9191 meet the standards fixed by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as
9292 prescribed in its rules unless otherwise prescrib ed in the Oklahoma
9393 Nursing Practice Act. Length of approved diploma RN programs shall
9494 be:
9595 1. Standalone diploma programs for registered nurses shal l have
9696 a minimum of one thousand three hundred (1,300) clock hours, but not
9797 to exceed one thousand five hun dred (1,500) clock hours, in nursing
9898 education. This shall include nursing education consisting of
9999 didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses. Additional required
100100 non-nursing coursework shall not exceed three hundred thirty ( 330)
101101 clock hours or twenty-one (21) credit hours;
102102 2. LPN to diploma RN ladder programs awarding credit to
103103 Licensed Practical Nurses shall have a minimum of six hundred (600)
104104 clock hours beyond the practical nursing education, but not to
105105 exceed seven hundred (700) clock hours in nursi ng education. This
106106 shall include nursing education c onsisting of didactic, laboratory,
107107 and clinical courses. Additional required non -nursing coursework
108108 shall not exceed three hundred thirty (330) clock hours or twenty-
109109 one (21) credit hours and may includ e non-nursing coursework
110110 completed in practical nurs ing education.
111111 C. To qualify in this state as an approved program for
112112 practical nurses, the program shall be c onducted in this state in a

139139 school or skill center approved by the Oklahoma Department of Car eer
140140 and Technology Education or licensed by the Oklahoma Board of
141141 Private Vocational Schools. Such programs shall meet the standards
142142 fixed by the Oklahoma Board o f Nursing as prescribed in its rules,
143143 which shall conform to the provisions of this subsectio n.
144144 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
