52	52	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
53	53	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
54	54	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 18-114.15 of Title 70, unless
55	55	there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
56	56	A. Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, each school
57	57	district shall provide to every classroom teacher a salary increase
58	58	of twenty percent (20%) over the base amount the employee earned
59	59	during the 2022-2023 school year if the classroom teacher is
60	60	employed by the same school district for the 2023-2024 school year.
61	61	If a classroom teacher is a new e mployee of the school district, his
62	62	or her starting salary shall be a twenty -percent increase from the

89	89	starting salary for the s ame position during the 202 2-2023 school
90	90	year.
91	91	B. The increase prescribed by this section shall be in addition
92	92	to any other compensation, increase in compensati on, and fringe
93	93	benefits provided by the school district or state, or mandated by
94	94	law or collective bargaining agreement, unless the hours or duties
95	95	of the classroom teacher are reduced proportionately.
96	96	C. For purposes of t his section, "classroom teacher" means a
97	97	teacher as defined in paragraph 1 of Section 1-116 of Title 70 of
98	98	the Oklahoma Statutes, except for superintendents as defined in
99	99	paragraph 2 of Section 1 -116 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
100	100	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023.
101	101	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
102	102	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
103	103	declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
104	104	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
