40	40	An Act relating to schools; enacting the Big Yellow
41	41	School Bus Act; amending 70 O.S. 2021, Section 6-
42	42	101.42, which relates to support employee pay;
43	43	providing for increase in compensation of certain
44	44	school support employees; prescribing amount of
45	45	increase; providing increase in compensation as
46	46	additional to certain other compensation and fringe
47	47	benefits; providing for prorated computation;
48	48	providing for noncodification; providing an effective
49	49	date; and declaring a n emergency.

56	56	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
57	57	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law not t o be
58	58	codified in the Oklahoma St atutes reads as follows:
59	59	This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Big Yellow
60	60	School Bus Act".
61	61	SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 6 -101.42, is
62	62	amended to read as follows:
63	63	Section 6-101.42 A. For the 2023-2024 school year, each school
64	64	district shall provide to ev ery support employee, as defined in
65	65	paragraph 8 of Section 1-116 of this title, with a salary of less

92	92	than Eighty Thousand Dollar s ($80,000.00) per year, a twenty-percent
93	93	(20%) wage increase over the base a mount the employee earned dur ing
94	94	the 2022-2023 school year if the support employee is employed by the
95	95	same school district for the 202 3-2024 school year. The dollar
96	96	amount of the salary increase required by this subsection shall be
97	97	prorated based upon the number of total hours of work perf ormed by a
98	98	full-time-equivalent support employee. If a support employee is a
99	99	new employee of the school dist rict, his or her starting salary
100	100	shall be a twenty-percent (20%) increase from t he starting salary
101	101	for the same position during the 2022-2023 school year.
102	102	B. For the 2018-19 school year, each school district shall
103	103	provide to every support employee a wage increase over the base
104	104	amount the employee earned during the 2017 -18 school year if the
105	105	support employee is employed by the same school district for the
106	106	2018-19 school year in the amount of One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty
107	107	Dollars ($1,250.00). The dollar amount of salary increase
108	108	authorized by this subsection shall be prorated based up on the
109	109	number of total hours of work performed by a full -time-equivalent
110	110	support employee.
111	111	B. C. The increase increases prescribed by this section shall
112	112	be in addition to any other compensation , increase in compensation,
113	113	and fringe benefits provided by th e district or state, or mandated
114	114	by law or collective bargaining agre ement, unless the hours or
115	115	duties of the support employee are reduced proportionately.

142	142	SECTION 3. This act shall be come effective July 1, 2023.
143	143	SECTION 4. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
144	144	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
145	145	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
146	146	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
