4040 An Act relating to schools; creating the Prevent ing
4141 Religious Indoctrination from Corrupting Education
4242 (PRICE) Act; amending 70 O.S. 2021, Section 11-101,
4343 which relates to sectarian or religious doctrine in
4444 schools; prohibiting certain private schools from
4545 using state funds for religious instruction or
4646 activities; barring certain students from mandatory
4747 participation in religious activities; prohibiting
4848 certain private school s from rejecting applicant s for
4949 religious reasons; providing for noncodification; and

5656 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5757 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law not to be
5858 codified in the Oklahoma Statutes reads as follows:
5959 This act shall be known and ma y be cited as the "Preventing
6060 Religious Indoctrination from Corrupting Education (PRICE) Act".
6161 SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 11 -101, is
6262 amended to read as follo ws:
6363 Section 11-101. A. No sectarian or religious doctrine shall be
6464 taught or inculcated in any of the public schools of t his state, but

9191 nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit th e reading
9292 of the Holy Scriptures .
9393 B. Private schools which receive state funds shall not use the
9494 state funds to provide religious in struction or religious
9595 activities. Students who receive state funds to attend private
9696 schools shall not be required to participate in religious activities
9797 including, but not limited to, prayer, chapel, and Bible study.
9898 C. A student who applies to attend a private school which
9999 receives state funds shall n ot be rejected for religious reasons
100100 including, but not limited to, the student does not attend church ,
101101 the student fails to participate in religious activities, or the
102102 student attends a church that is a different denomination than the
103103 private school.
104104 SECTION 3. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
