40	40	An Act relating to schools; creating the Prevent ing
41	41	Religious Indoctrination from Corrupting Education
42	42	(PRICE) Act; amending 70 O.S. 2021, Section 11-101,
43	43	which relates to sectarian or religious doctrine in
44	44	schools; prohibiting certain private schools from
45	45	using state funds for religious instruction or
46	46	activities; barring certain students from mandatory
47	47	participation in religious activities; prohibiting
48	48	certain private school s from rejecting applicant s for
49	49	religious reasons; providing for noncodification; and
50	50	providing an effective date .

56	56	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
57	57	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law not to be
58	58	codified in the Oklahoma Statutes reads as follows:
59	59	This act shall be known and ma y be cited as the "Preventing
60	60	Religious Indoctrination from Corrupting Education (PRICE) Act".
61	61	SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 11 -101, is
62	62	amended to read as follo ws:
63	63	Section 11-101. A. No sectarian or religious doctrine shall be
64	64	taught or inculcated in any of the public schools of t his state, but

91	91	nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit th e reading
92	92	of the Holy Scriptures .
93	93	B. Private schools which receive state funds shall not use the
94	94	state funds to provide religious in struction or religious
95	95	activities. Students who receive state funds to attend private
96	96	schools shall not be required to participate in religious activities
97	97	including, but not limited to, prayer, chapel, and Bible study.
98	98	C. A student who applies to attend a private school which
99	99	receives state funds shall n ot be rejected for religious reasons
100	100	including, but not limited to, the student does not attend church ,
101	101	the student fails to participate in religious activities, or the
102	102	student attends a church that is a different denomination than the
103	103	private school.
104	104	SECTION 3. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
