41	41	requirements under the Maternal Mortality Review Act;

50	50	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
51	51	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
52	52	in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-242.5 of Title 63, unless
53	53	there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
54	54	A. For the purposes of the Maternal Mortality Review Comm ittee,
55	55	hospitals and licensed birth centers must make a reasonable and
56	56	good-faith effort to report all death s that occur during pregnanc y
57	57	or within one (1) year of termination of pregnancy to the local
58	58	coroner or medical examiner for consideration of an au topsy.
59	59	B. These deaths must be reported within seventy-two (72) hours
60	60	after the death occurs.

87	87	C. Medical examiners to whom the death w as reported shall
88	88	conduct a death investiga tion, with autopsy strongly recommended but
89	89	not required.
90	90	D. Autopsies must follow the guidelines for performance of an
91	91	autopsy as regulated by the State Department of Health.
92	92	SECTION 2. This act shall becom e effective November 1, 2023.
