40	40	An Act relating to schools; amending 70 O.S. 2021,
41	41	Section 5-137, which relates to school nurses;
42	42	clarifying definition ; providing for yearly salary
43	43	increments based on years of experience; requiring
44	44	recognition of years of outside nursing experience in
45	45	determining salary; providing an effective date ; and
46	46	declaring an emergency .

52	52	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
53	53	SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 5 -137, is
54	54	amended to read as follow s:
55	55	Section 5-137. A. Registered nurses serving as school nurses ,
56	56	as defined in Section 1 -116 of this title, who are employed full
57	57	time by a school district shall qualify for yearly salary increments
58	58	based on years of experience the same as any other teacher in the
59	59	public schools.
60	60	B. Registered nurses serving as school nurses with year s of
61	61	nursing experience which are not obtained in the public schools,
62	62	shall be recognized for their previous years of nursing experience
63	63	when determining their contracted salary with a school distric t.

90	90	SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023.
91	91	SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservati on
92	92	of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is here by
93	93	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
94	94	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
