4141 A Joint Resolution directing the S ecretary of State
4242 to refer to the people f or their approval or
4343 rejection a proposed amen dment to Section 23 of
4444 Article V of the Oklahoma Constitution; allowing a
4545 member of the Legislature to be employed as a
4646 certified teacher with a public school district in
4747 this state after completion of certain term; making
4848 language gender neutral; providing ballot title; and

5353 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE OF THE
5454 1ST SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
5555 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
5656 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
5757 the following proposed amendment to Section 23 of Article V of the
5858 Constitution of the State of Oklahoma to read as follows:
5959 Section 23. No A. Except as provided for in subsection B of
6060 this section, no member of the Legislature shall, during the term
6161 for which he or she was elected, be appointed or elected to any
6262 office or commission in the State, which shall have been created, or
6363 the emoluments of which shall have been increased, during his or her

9090 term of office, nor shall any member receive any appointment from
9191 the Governor, the Governor and Senate, or from the Legislature,
9292 during the term for which he or she shall have been elected, nor
9393 shall any member, dur ing the term for which he or she shall have
9494 been elected, or within two years thereafter, be interested,
9595 directly or indirectly, in any contract with the State, or any
9696 county or other subdivision thereof, authorized by law passed during
9797 the term for which he or she shall have been elected.
9898 B. The provisions of this section shall not prohibit a member
9999 of the Legislature from being employed as a certified teacher by a
100100 public school district in this state after completing the term to
101101 which he or she was elected.
102102 SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional
103103 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in

107107 THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:
108108 This measure amends Section 23 of Article 5 of the Oklahoma
109109 Constitution. It allows a member of the Legislature to be

111111 this state after he or she completes his or her term in office.
