AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to justices and judges; establi shing 
mandatory retirement age for certain judicial 
officers; providing for filling of certai n vacancy; 
providing for codification; a nd providing an 
effective date. 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.    NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1407 of Title 20, unless there 
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
As authorized pursuant to subs ection (c) of Section 11 of 
Article VII of the Oklahoma Constitution, a n appellate Justice or 
Judge in this state shall be automatically retir ed when he or she 
reaches seventy-five (75) years of age .  Such retirement shall occur 
upon reaching seventy-five (75) years of age regardless of any time 
remaining in an existing term.  Any vacancy occurring upon a 
retirement as required by this section s hall be filled as provided 
by law. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
