3843 An Act relating to professions and occupatio ns;
3944 amending 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1253, which relates to
4045 the State Board of Licensed Social Workers; extending
4146 sunset date; providing an effective date; and

4853 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
4954 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1253, is
5055 amended to read as follows:
5156 Section 1253. A. There is hereby re -created, to continue until
5257 July 1, 2023 2026, in accordance with the provisions of the Oklahoma
5358 Sunset Law, the State Board of Licensed Social Workers, cons isting
5459 of seven (7) members.
5560 B. Three of the members of the Board shall be licensed social
5661 workers or licensed clinical social workers licen sed pursuant to the
5762 provisions of the Social Worker ’s Licensing Act. Two other members
5863 shall be licensed as either social work associates or master ’s
5964 social workers. One member shall be the president of the Oklahoma
60-Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. The

92+Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. The
8793 remaining member of the Board shall be selected from and shall
8894 represent the general public.
8995 C. Responsibility for enforcement of the provisions of this act
9096 the Social Worker’s Licensing Act is hereby vested in the State
9197 Board of Social Work. The Board shall have al l of the duties,
9298 powers and authority specifically granted by, or necessary for, the
9399 enforcement of this act the Social Worker’s Licensing Act as well as
94100 other duties, powers and authority it may be granted by applicable
95101 law.
96102 D. 1. Each member of the Board appointed as a social worker
97103 shall:
98104 a. be a resident of this state,
99105 b. be licensed in good standing to engage in the pra ctice
100106 of social work in this state,
101107 c. at the time of appointment, have been actively engaged
102108 in the practice of social work for at least one (1)
103109 year out of the last five (5) years, and
104110 d. have at least three (3) years of experience in the
105111 practice of social work.
106112 2. Each member of the Board appointed to represent the general
107113 public shall be a resident of this state who has attained the age of
108114 majority and shall not b e, nor shall ever have been, a social work
109115 licensee, or the spouse of a social work licen see, or a person who
110-has ever had any material financial interest in the provision of

143+has ever had any material financial interest in the provision of
137144 social work services or has engaged in any activity directly related
138145 to the practice of social work.
139146 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2 023.
140147 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
141148 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
142149 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
143150 be in full force from and after its passa ge and approval.
