48	48	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
49	49	SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 21 O.S. 2021, Section 1289.7, is
50	50	amended to read as follows:

52	52	FIREARMS IN VEHICLES
53	53	A. Any person who is not otherwise prohibited by law from
54	54	possessing or purchasing a firearm and is not carrying or
55	55	transporting a firearm in the furtherance of a crime may transport
56	56	in or on a vehicle a firearm, loaded or unloaded, at any time.
57	57	B. Any person, eighteen (18) to twenty (20) years of age, who
58	58	is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing or purchasing a
59	59	firearm and is not carrying or transporting a firearm in the
60	60	furtherance of a crime may transport in or on a vehicle, open or
61	61	concealed, an unloaded firearm at any time.

88	88	C. It shall be unlawful for any person transporting a firearm
89	89	in or on a vehicle to fail or refuse to identify that the person is
90	90	in actual possession of a firearm when demanded by a law enforcement
91	91	officer of this state during any arrest, detainment or routine
92	92	traffic stop. Any person who violates the provisions of this
93	93	subsection may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed One
94	94	Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
95	95	D. It shall be unlawful for any person to leave a firearm in an
96	96	unattended vehicle unless the ammunition for the firearm is removed
97	97	from the firearm and the firearm is in a locked compartment such as
98	98	a safe, glove compartment, or tru nk that cannot be accesse d from the
99	99	main interior of the vehicle. Any person who violates the
100	100	provisions of this subsection shall be issued a warning for a first
101	101	offense and may be subject to an administrative fine in an amount
102	102	not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000.00) for any second and
103	103	subsequent offenses; provided, however, if the firearm is a handgun,
104	104	the administrative fine shall be in an amount not to exceed Five
105	105	Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00). If a violation of the provisions of
106	106	this subsection results in a minor, a prohibited person, or an at -
107	107	risk person obtaining the firearm and using the firearm to commit a
108	108	criminal offense or to injure themself or another, the person shall,
109	109	upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor.
