6565 An Act relating to lung cancer screening; creating

7575 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF T HE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7676 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7777 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-580 of Title 63, unless there
7878 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
7979 A. A Lung Cancer Screening Program shall be created within the
8080 State Department of Health. The program may provide grants to
8181 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Centers for the
8282 purpose of expanding mobile lung cancer screening services. The
8383 program may provide funding for assessment, referral, consultation,
8484 and screening for lung cancer, including equipment for m obile lung
8585 cancer screening.
8686 B. The Department may contract with entities to carry out the
8787 purposes and functions of the Lung Cancer Screening Program and

139139 shall establish standards and criteria for entities to be eligible
140140 to contract with the Department.
141141 C. The State Board of Health shall:
142142 1. Promulgate rules necessary for the administration of the
143143 Lung Cancer Screening Program; and
144144 2. Establish evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of
145145 the Lung Cancer Screening P rogram.
146146 D. The Lung Cancer Screening Program shall f ocus on increasing
147147 the lung cancer screening rate for individuals who qualify as "high-
148148 risk" per the United State Preventative Services Task Force.
149149 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
