65	65	An Act relating to rural water districts; directing

67	67	certain water shortage; specifying reparations to be
68	68	considered; directing sustainability study by certain
69	69	entities under certain circumstances; providing for
70	70	codification; and declaring an emergency.

75	75	BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOP LE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
76	76	SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
77	77	in the Oklahoma Statu tes as Section 1324.36 of Title 82, unless
78	78	there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
79	79	A. In the event that a water shortage, compromised treatment
80	80	facility, or other emergency water issue impacts water provis ion to
81	81	a rural water district organized under Section 1324.1 et seq. of
82	82	Title 82 of the Oklahoma Statutes for not less than five (5)
83	83	calendar days, the board of county commissioners for the district
84	84	shall convene a public meetin g and take any action deemed necessary
85	85	to compel reparations by the rural water district of the state d
86	86	issue. Such reparations may include , but not be limited to,
87	87	entering into water purchase agreements , requiring the district to

141	141	B. If a water source for a rural water district is at or near
142	142	capacity, as determined by the board of county commissioners, the
143	143	board may direct a study to be conducted by the Oklahoma Water
144	144	Resources Board and the Un ited States Army Corps of Engineers
145	145	regarding water sustainabilit y for the district.
146	146	SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
147	147	of the public peace, health o r safety, an emergency is hereby
148	148	declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
149	149	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
