6565 An Act relating to rural water districts; directing

7575 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOP LE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7676 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7777 in the Oklahoma Statu tes as Section 1324.36 of Title 82, unless
7878 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
7979 A. In the event that a water shortage, compromised treatment
8080 facility, or other emergency water issue impacts water provis ion to
8181 a rural water district organized under Section 1324.1 et seq. of
8282 Title 82 of the Oklahoma Statutes for not less than five (5)
8383 calendar days, the board of county commissioners for the district
8484 shall convene a public meetin g and take any action deemed necessary
8585 to compel reparations by the rural water district of the state d
8686 issue. Such reparations may include , but not be limited to,
8787 entering into water purchase agreements , requiring the district to

141141 B. If a water source for a rural water district is at or near
142142 capacity, as determined by the board of county commissioners, the
143143 board may direct a study to be conducted by the Oklahoma Water
144144 Resources Board and the Un ited States Army Corps of Engineers
145145 regarding water sustainabilit y for the district.
146146 SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
147147 of the public peace, health o r safety, an emergency is hereby
148148 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
149149 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
