3965 An Act relating to wildlife; authorizing the

4571 enter into certain agreements to a ssist in data

4773 recommendations; providing for codification ; and

5379 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
5480 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
5581 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3-316 of Title 29, unless there
5682 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
5783 A. The Department of Wildlife Conservation shall produce an elk
5884 population study to be presented electronically to the Legislature
5985 and the Governor on or before a year following the effective d ate of
6086 this act.
6187 B. The study shall be used to det ermine Oklahoma’s elk
6288 population in southeastern Oklahoma. The study may incorporate
6389 information available in other sources, such as studies produced by
64-collegiate or federal resources , into an analysis of Oklahoma ’s elk

93143 other agencies, organizations operating in this state, or tribal
94144 governments to assist with the production of this study.
95145 C. The study may include recommendations by the Department for
96146 the conservation of Oklahoma elk populat ions.
97147 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
