AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to long-term care; requiring certain 
curricula and standar ds to include specified 
subjects; providing for codification; and providing 
an effective date. 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-1951.2 of Title 63, unless 
there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: 
The curricula and standards f or nurse aide training and 
competency programs established by the State Department of Health 
under Section 1-1951 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma S tatutes shall 
include subjects des igned to improve the quality of care of 
residents and prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents 
including, but not limited to: 
1.  Pursuant to paragraph 3 of subsection A of Section 1-1951 of 
Title 63 of the Oklahoma S tatutes, a minimum of ten (10) hours of 
training in the care of Alzheimer ’s patients; 
2.  Ethics and ethical conduct;

3.  Social media behavior and privacy ; 
4.  Trauma-informed care; 
5.  Basic legal statuses of residents or patients including but 
not limited to guardianship, power of attorney, advance directive, 
and living will; 
6.  Understanding basic cultural competency and religious 
preferences; 
7.  Resident sexuality in care settings ; 
8.  Understanding state rules and regulations for reportable 
incidents to the Department and th e nurse aide registry ; 
9.  Personal liability; and 
10.  Professional soft skill s including time management, 
problem-solving, teamwork, stress management, decision -making, 
critical thinking, conflict management, receiving criticism, 
adaptability, and profes sionalism. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
