6565 An Act relating to long-term care; requiring certain

7373 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
7474 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
7575 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-1951.2 of Title 63, unless
7676 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
7777 The curricula and standards f or nurse aide training and
7878 competency programs established by the State Department of Health
7979 under Section 1-1951 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma S tatutes shall
8080 include subjects des igned to improve the quality of care of
8181 residents and prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents
8282 including, but not limited to:
8383 1. Pursuant to paragraph 3 of subsection A of Section 1-1951 of
8484 Title 63 of the Oklahoma S tatutes, a minimum of ten (10) hours of
8585 training in the care of Alzheimer ’s patients;

140140 5. Basic legal statuses of residents or patients including but
141141 not limited to guardianship, power of attorney, advance directive,

143143 6. Understanding basic cultural competency and religious

145145 7. Resident sexuality in care settings ;
146146 8. Understanding state rules and regulations for reportable
147147 incidents to the Department and th e nurse aide registry ;
148148 9. Personal liability; and
149149 10. Professional soft skill s including time management,
150150 problem-solving, teamwork, stress management, decision -making,
151151 critical thinking, conflict management, receiving criticism,
152152 adaptability, and profes sionalism.
153153 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
