55	48		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
56	49		SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Sect ion 6-101.6b, is
57	50		amended to read as follows:
58	51		Section 6-101.6b. A. For purposes of this section, “teacher”
59	52		means the term as defined in paragraph 1 of Sectio n 1-116 of Title
60	53		70 of the Oklahoma Statutes this title, and “support employee” means
61	54		the term as defined in paragraph 8 of Section 1-116 of this title.
62	55		B. No school district shall prohibit or take disciplinary
63	56		action against teachers or support employees for:
	57	+	1. Disclosing public information to correct what the teacher or
	58	+	support employee reasonably believes evidences a violation of the
	59	+	Oklahoma Constitution or law or a rule promulgated pursuant to law;
	60	+	2. Reporting a violation of the Oklahoma Constitut ion or state
	61	+	or federal law; or

91		-	1. Disclosing public information to correct what the teacher or
92		-	support employee reasonably believes evidences a violation of the
93		-	Oklahoma Constitution or law or a rule promulgated pursuant to law;
94		-	2. Reporting a violation of the Oklahoma Constitut ion or state
95		-	or federal law; or
96	88		3. Taking any of the above actions without giving prior notice
97	89		to the teacher’s or support employee’s supervisor or anyone else in
98	90		the teacher’s relevant chain of command.
99	91		C. For the purposes of this section, “reporting” means
100	92		providing a spoken or written account to a supervising teacher,
101	93		administrator, school board m ember, representative from the State
102	94		Department of Education, law enforcement official, district
103	95		attorney, and/or parent or legal guardian of a st udent directly
104	96		impacted by the actions.
105	97		D. Each school district shall prominently post or publish a
106	98		copy of this section of law in locations where it can reasonably be
107	99		expected to come to the attention of all teachers and support
108	100		employees.
109	101		E. Nothing in this sectio n shall be construed to allow a
110	102		teacher or a support employee to violate students’ or parents’
111	103		rights to confidentiality and protection under the Family
112	104		Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
113	105		SECTION 2. This act shall become e ffective July 1, 2023.

	107	+	of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
	108	+	declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
	109	+	be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
