55 | 56 | | SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified |

59 | 60 | | Childhood Literacy Task Force to study and make recommendations |

60 | 61 | | regarding the teaching of literacy to students in early childhood |

62 | 63 | | B. The task force shall be comprised of eight (8) members to be |

108 | 110 | | C. Appointments to the task force shall be made within thirty |

109 | 111 | | (30) days after the effective date of this act. The task force |

110 | 112 | | shall conduct an organizational meeting no t later than September 1, |

142 | 145 | | perform the duties imposed upon it. |

143 | 146 | | F. Task force members may participate via videoconference if |

144 | 147 | | they are visible and audible to each other through a video monitor . |

145 | 148 | | G. Members of the task force shall receive no compensation or |
---|
146 | 149 | | travel reimbursement. |
---|
147 | 150 | | H. The State Department of Education shall provide staff and |
---|
148 | 151 | | administrative support for the task force. |
---|
149 | 152 | | I. The task force shall submit a report of its findings and |
---|
150 | 153 | | recommendations by November 30, 2024, to the Governor, the President |
---|
151 | 154 | | Pro Tempore of the S enate, the Speaker of the H ouse of |
---|
152 | 155 | | Representatives, and the chairs of the Senate and House of |
---|
153 | 156 | | Representatives education committees. |
---|
154 | 157 | | SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023. |
---|
155 | 158 | | SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation |
---|
156 | 159 | | of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby |
---|
157 | 160 | | declared to exist, by reason wher eof this act shall take effect and |
---|
158 | 161 | | be in full force from and after its passage and approval. |
